"Envol" pour Basson et Piano

ENVOL is a somewhat special piece in that I set myself the task of treating it as a piece for bassoon and piano, but with the polyphonic writing of a string orchestra.

It is also the manifestation of a personal desire to explore a different way of thinking about sound, harmonies, chords, and rhythms.

ENVOL was commissioned by Christopher Raymond and premiered with Miguel Campinho (piano) at the IDRS conference in Indianapolis (Indiana, USA) in June 2025.

The version with string orchestra was premiered in November 2025 in London (UK) by Denis Gardrat with the JP Morgan Orchestra (conducted by Sam McLaren Blade).

ENVOL pour Basson et Piano

ENVOL est une pièce un peu spéciale dans la mesure où je me suis imposé comme consigne de la considérer certes comme une pièce pour Basson et Piano mais portant dans l’écriture de l’instrument polyphonique celle d’un orchestre à cordes.

C’est également la manifestation d’un souhait personnel d’aller vers une autre façon de penser le son, les harmonies, les accords et les rythmes.

ENVOL a été commandé par Christopher Raymond et créé avec Miguel Campinho (Piano) lors du congrès IDRS de Indianapolis (Indiana – USA) en juin 2025.

La version avec orchestre à cordes a été créée en novembre 2025 à Londres par Denis Gardrat avec l’orchestre JP Morgan (dir. Sam McLaren Blade).

La pièce dure 8’50’’.
