Après une carrière internationale de Bassoniste où il s’est attaché à développer le répertoire contemporain pour son instrument, Alexandre Ouzounoff se consacre depuis de nombreuses années à la composition.
Tout a commencé par la riche collaboration avec les compositeurs qui lui ont dédié plus d’une centaine d’œuvres dont Balif, Decoust, Taïra, Solal, Ton That Tiet, Hersant, Mefano et Yun.
Puis avec l’écriture de thèmes pour les ensembles de jazz contemporain dans lesquels il a joué avec des improvisateurs géniaux comme Portal, Solal, Jenny-Clark, Cinelu, Hampton, Femi Kuti, le virus de l’écriture étant pris, Alexandre a poursuivi son incessant travail de création et son catalogue publié chez de nombreux éditeurs, comprend aujourd’hui 70 œuvres allant du solo à l’Orchestre Symphonique. Toutes ces pièces ont été créées à Paris, Lausanne, New York, Lisbonne, Vienne, Bonn, Taïwan, Pékin, Helsinki, Chicago.
En 1998, il reçoit le 1er Prix du Concours International de Composition de St Jacques de Compostelle, et en 2015 le 2ème Prix du Concours Col Legno. Plusieurs commandes de Concours Internationaux lui confèrent une belle visibilité auprès des instrumentistes français et internationaux (CNSM de Paris et Lyon, Concours International de « Citta di Porcia », Conservatoires Régionaux, Festivals)
Ses œuvres ont été jouées par de talentueux musiciens issus d’orchestres prestigieux : Philharmonie de Vienne, Orchestre National de l’Opéra de Paris, Orchestre de la Radio de Finlande, Orchestre Symphonique de San Francisco, Orchestre Philarmonique de la Radio Néérlandaise ainsi que Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, l’Orchestre Pasdeloup, l’Orchestre National de Cannes.
En janvier 2025, un double album monographique autour de ses œuvres de musique de chambre – pour Basson et pour Cor - est paru chez Klarthe Records.

After an international career as a bassoonist, during which he dedicated himself to developing the contemporary repertoire for his instrument, Alexandre Ouzounoff has, for many years, devoted himself to composition.
Its all began with his rich collaborations with composers who dedicated more than a hundred works to him, among them Balif, Decoust, Taïra, Solal, Ton That Tiet, Hersant, Mefano, and Yun.
Then, with the writing of themes for contemporary jazz ensembles in which he played alongside brilliant improvisers such as Portal, Solal, Jenny-Clark, Cinelu, Hampton, and Femi Kuti, the writing “virus” took hold. Alexandre continued his tireless creative work, and his catalog—published by numerous editors—today includes 70 works ranging from solo pieces to full symphony orchestra. All of these works have been premiered in Paris, Lausanne, New York, Lisbon, Vienna, Bonn, Taiwan, Beijing, Helsinki, and Chicago.
In 1998, he was awarded the 1st Prize at the International Composition Competition of Santiago de Compostela, and in 2015 the 2nd Prize at the Col Legno Competition. Several commissions from international competitions have brought him significant visibility among French and international performers (CNSM of Paris and Lyon, International Competition “Città di Porcia,” Regional Conservatories, Festivals).
His works have been performed by talented musicians from prestigious orchestras: the Vienna Philharmonic, the Orchestre National de l’Opéra de Paris, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, as well as the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre Pasdeloup, and the Orchestre National de Cannes.
In January 2025, a double monographic album featuring his chamber music works—for bassoon and for horn—was released by Klarthe Records.
