Composer Eugene Magalif (b. 1957, Vitebsk, Belarus), has lived in the New Jersey in the USA since 1990. He graduated from Vitebsk Music College and Belarusian State Conservatory (Academy of Music). During the years in Belarus, E. Magalif became well-known for his pop-songs and music for children. Many of them were recorded by famous singers and orchestras, from different countries and featured on Radio and TV. Today his compositions are performed worldwide. He now teaches Music to public-school students.
Eugene Magalif is the author of the musical "Swineherd", cantata "Barmaley", music for Theater, Radio, and TV, instrumental pieces, sacred choral music, and popular songs and ballads. His piece for flute and piano "Autumn" was chosen as mandatory piece for Children International Competition "My Favorite Flute" (Moscow, 2012). In.2012 “Spring” and “Sommer” for Piano 4 hands were chosen as mandatory pieces for Children's Piano Contest in Poland.
One can describe the style of his music as combination of classical and pop-music, or so called "modern classical". Maestro Yuri Temirkanov, Chief Conductor of the St Petersburg State Philharmonic Orchestra, wrote that “Eugene Magalif' music is delightful, first of all in its professionalism, as well as quite amusing and witty."
Eugene Magalif was a jury member in several competitions in Belarus. In 2008 and 2010 he was an honored guest at the International Festival «Slavianski Bazaar» in Vitebsk, Belarus.
